The smoke chamber is the funnel-shaped cavity directly above the firebox, between the damper and the base of the flue. Camera Inspection

Firebox Access
In most cases, smoke chamber parging is done through the firebox opening — no demolition of the fireplace surround or mantel is required. We protect the firebox and hearth area before beginning work.
Surface Preparation
Loose mortar, failed parging, and debris are removed from the smoke chamber surfaces. Existing cracks are cleaned out to provide a sound substrate for the new refractory mortar.
Refractory Mortar Application
